New Albums from Complicated Shirt and A New Dawn Fades!
A New Dawn Fades' "I See the Night Birds" and Complicated Shirt's "Compromising Compositions" are both slated for release January 9th.
NEWS
A New Dawn Fades's I See The Nightbirds, an instrumental rock album recorded in the woodlands just north of Richmond. Where past recordings set off to prove the power of the two piece construct, Nightbirds showcases the beauty of the moment. Pieces like 'I Remember When This Town Was A Good Place To Grow Up & 'The Neornithes Returns' accent subtle dissonance. Other pieces project a frenetic energy that is the foundation of the live set ('The Glories Of Summer Camps Past', 'I See The Nightbirds'). The album will be officially available January 9th, 2007. BIOGRAPHY A New Dawn Fades has been plugging away at the mid atlantic rock landscape for a little more than three years now, taking time amidst day jobs, families & life itself to work out the kinks & complexities of being a two piece instrumental performance group. The early part of the band's career found PJ Sykes (guitars, ebow, trumpet) & Nathan McGlothlin (drums, bells, organs) focused on the live set, where the curious nature of improvisation proved, over time, to be the driving force. Since 2002, ANDF has seen over 100 different stages, sharing bills with many influences & friends (Unwed Sailor, Q and Not U, Beauty Pill, Bats & Mice, Saxon Shore, and many, many others). also coming out is the new album from Albany's Complicated Shirt, Compromising Compositions. A joint release with NFI, the new album will be available nationally January 9th, 2007. Compromising Compositions is the follow up to 2004's very acerbic Strigine, which garnered wide critical acclaim, including the praises of the Village Voice's Chuck Eddy and Canadian music magazine Exclaim!, as well as airplay across the United States. BIOGRAPHY Albany, NY's Complicated Shirt released their first album, Strigine, in 2004, a riotous and lyrical look at, among other targets, a disaffected middle-class and corporate rock's 'talent abyss'. The album gained the band fans across the country. After touring behind this release, the band recorded their latest effort in 2006, with additional help from Marc Fuller (Kanye West, Sparklehorse). The fruit of their labors will be realized in 2007 with their NFI/Alone Records debut, Compromising Compositions. On this new release the three-piece expand their palette to include woodwinds, brass, cello and violin. Benton's acerbic lyrics burn through the sublime instrumentation throughout; and though the band has ratcheted up the complexity of their songs, the delivery is no less powerful. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you that came out to our CMJ Showcase and helped to make it a success. We greatly appreciate your support, and hope to see you all again soon.
